Youth Protection
OUR DYP TEAM
When a parent turns to our youth protection lawyers following the removal of their child by the DPJ or the retention of a report, the first step is always to listen. We take the time to understand the parent’s story, their reality, and the circumstances that led to the DPJ’s intervention.
Our role is then clear: to provide a rigorous, humane, and strategic defence before the courts, ensuring that decisions are made on the basis of complete, fair, and legally sound facts.
Our team regularly represents parents whose children were removed prematurely or without sufficient justification. When the analysis of a file reveals gaps, inconsistencies, or a flawed understanding of the family situation, our lawyers do not hesitate to subject the DPJ’s decisions to close scrutiny, including through incisive cross-examinations of DPJ caseworkers.
Our youth protection lawyers have represented parents at every stage of the youth protection process—from the removal of newborns shortly after birth, to cases involving young children, as well as complex situations involving adolescents. In every case, our commitment remains the same: to protect parents’ rights while ensuring that the child’s best interests, as recognized by law, are fully respected.
